Monday 17th June We are looking at coordinates and made up some great games to challenge our friends

Summer reading List - with summer fast approaching here's a comprehensive list of exciting titles to enjoy suitable for Year 4

Year 4 Residential to Newcastle. We had great fun at Beamish, Vindolanda and The Sill

British Science Week - today year 4 took part in British Science Week and tried to answer the question 'Are all bubbles spherical?" We made various wands and ribbon wands - we found each time the bubble left the wand it became a sphere. We then experimented with 3D wands, creating our own from materials and using some ready made wands. we found the film of bubble from each side of the 3D shape adhered to the middle making a rectilinear shape. We then tried blowing into the centre of each shape (where the film met) and found we could create a cuboid bubble. It stayed in this shape as the film was still attached to the sides. until it was blown out of the shape when it became a sphere again. Bubbles become spheres as they try to create the smallest surface area. the answer is YES all free flying bubbles are spherical.

World Book Day Video reviews

Still image for this video
We have created some video reviews of books we have read. We used green screen technology to film our videos. we had great fun on World Book Day

We have been testing materials to see if they conduct electricity

15th February 2019 - we had a Victorian fashion show for our families. We dressed up in Victorian clothes and explained some of the key facts about life in Victorian times

TTROCKSTARS - we had a battle with Year 3 and over two days we answered over 47000 multiplication and division questions correctly. It was a tough battle but we just pipped them to the post. It was great fun.

The Victorians - Today we dressed up in Victorian costumes on loan from Tullie House. We talked about what life must have been like for the rich and the poor children.

Welcome back from the Christmas break.

Our topic this term is The Victorians and we are already finding out lots after just one week!

We will be studying Victorian poets and artists; what life was like for Victorian children; the monarchy during the Victorians and crime and punishment.

In science we are looking at electricity- how it is generated, alternative ways of making electricity and building circuits.

In maths we will look at multiplication and division, area and fractions.

In English we will write poems in the style of a Victorian poet, create a biography and study the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens.

Keep checking the website for photographs of our work.
