Spring 2

Our topic this term is 'Which materials should the three little pigs use to build their house?'

In literacy we will be focusing on texts such as 'The three little pigs', 'Goldilocks' and 'A house in the woods'. These are all lovely texts and provide great learning opportunities for the children.

This term we will also have a science focus and will be looking at different materials and their properties.

We will continue to send books out daily and spellings will be sent out on a Friday. 

We have a science week commencing Monday 11th March 2019. Ask your children about the exciting things that we have been doing in class.

Spring 1 

Our topic this term is 'Why don't Meerkats live in the South Pole?'

During this topic the children will be focusing on geography and will be learning about climates and countries around the world.

They will also be looking at what animals and humans need to survive and where they can get that from.

In literacy we will be focusing on three key texts. These are Meerkat Mail, The Emperors Egg and Lost and Found. These are lovely texts and I am sure the children will thoroughly enjoy the focus.

We are very excited to be going on a school trip to The Lake District Wildlife Park.  The children will get to learn all about meerkats which will help them with their topic work.

We will be starting the 'Fitter Future' scheme in school and logins have already been sent out for children to be accessing at home.

Spellings are sent out weekly and the children will be tested on a Wednesday. Intervention groups will take place for children finding these hard.

Reading books will continue to come out daily. Please sign your child's reading diary once they have completed their book.

Autumn 1

Our topic this half term is science based and is ‘Why are humans not like tigers?’

The key texts that we will be using are The Bog Baby, Dear Zoo and The tiger who came to tea.  These are all lovely books which will allow the children to develop as readers and early writers.

We will explore this topic throughout the half term. The children will get chance to develop their literacy and numeracy skills with a range of cross curricular activities.

Phonics sessions and guided reading sessions will also be ran daily.
