What are we learning about?
Spring Term 2025
Please find some information below about the different things that we will be learning in Year 1 this term!
English
In English we are reading the story 'Mr Gumpy's Outing'. This is a really fun, repetitive story that tells the tale of what happens to Mr Gumpy on his day out. As well as exploring the story, we will be writing a diary from Mr Gumpy's perspective and we will be writng our own version of the story.
Maths
In Maths we are looking at place value of numbers to 20 as well as addition and subtraction within 20. Later in the term we will look at place value within 50, length and height and mass and volume. Remember that your child has a login for Numbots which they can use at home to practise their arithmetic skills.
Geography
In Geography our topic is 'Bright Lights Big City'. The main focus of this is learning all about London but we are also looking at the United Kingdom and the four countries that make up the UK and their capital cities. We will also be learning about physical features of the United Kingdom and compass directions North, South, East and West.
